About Us

After travelling the world for a year, we, (Angelica and Luisa from England) visited Uzbekistan and fell in love with the beautiful architecture, spices in the bazaar and the friendly people. One thing we didn't find however was much vegan or vegetarian food and as two coffee loving herbivores we decided to open our little cafe Samarkind in the heart of the old town of Samarqand.

Inspired by the beautiful produce in the markets and the gorgeous crafts of the Silk Road we felt that we could offer other vegetarian and vegan travellers a comfortable retreat full of home made delights such as fully plant based cakes and bakes, soups, sandwiches, seasonal salads and plant milks for coffee.

In the heart of the old town of Samarqand we found our perfect location, next to the stunning Bibi Khanum Mosque and Siyob Bizori (Local market) here we made a haven with considered decor, curated playlists and delicious food. We hope you can visit us soon!
